What it means to be Holistic…
The word ‘holistic’ gets a lot of attention these days, and so it should! We all want to be treated as a whole person, it just makes sense to view our health and our wellness by looking at the bigger picture. But what does it really mean?
To be holistic in our approach as functional health practitioners we need to have a system that can access and evaluate the body as a whole. So how do we do that? We do it through the triad of health.
The triad of health is a concept born from Applied Kinesiology and speaks to the notion that the body is made up of three main interconnecting parts. These parts are; the physical body, the chemical body and the emotional/mental part. These three parts interconnect to form a triangle - hence, the triad of health.
So, not only do we need to be able to evaluate and balance the physical body, we need to be able to access and balance the biochemistry and also the emotional and mental parts. At Luminous Body we do this by combining Chiropractic with Applied Kinesiology. We can access and balance all three aspects of the triad of health and by doing so we restore balance to the body holistically. It is holistic because by restoring the balance to each pillar of health they can hold up the triangle again, when this happens we know that the magic is about to happen!
When we are holistically balanced our sense of wellbeing skyrockets! Our own bodies ability to heal takes over and we see major improvements in all aspects of health. The triad of health is a fundamental aspect of being well, we support these aspects by using naturopathy, and by using psychotherapy. When we create self care plans around our health, by utilising practices such as meditation and yoga, we also move towards a more holistic way of living, a more interconnected way of being in the world. This not only helps us but improves the lives of everyone we meet. As Ghandi says - ‘Be the change you wish to see in the world’.
